Born Victoria Louise Lott and gifted with a nickname 'Pixie' by her mother, the British singer certainly lives up to her cute moniker with her bubbly antics and petite stature. In town for her first solo showcase at Zirca this Friday, xinmsn met with the 21-year-old at her media roundtable interview held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Wednesday evening.
Dressed in a blue sweater layered with an adorable dotted top and denim shorts, Pixie squirmed around her chair as she fielded questions from reporters and earned herself a couple of chuckles with her animated body language.
We asked Pixie if she lived by the mantra "Young Foolish Happy" like the title of her second album, the chirpy artiste piped in reply, "I'd like to think that - yes. I think that's a good motto for everyone to have 'cos it's so easy to forget it at any age.
"Sometimes you just need to think that life's short, you need to have fun and live for the moment. And I think that "Young Foolish Happy" kinda says that."

Sharing on something foolish she recently did with two best friends during their girls' holiday last summer, the freshly-minted adult (she turned 21 in January) said she "ended up tattooing someone for the first time" in Greece.
She mused, "But it went quite well and it turned out great 'cos I was quite the perfectionist. It was an experience."
Revamped with a sexier and more confident image for her second album -- contrary to her granny sweaters and conservative outfits when she first started out -- Pixie calls her change in style a "natural progression" that developed with age.

On staying out of controversy and maintaining a clean track record despite having the spotlight on her, the blonde singer reckons that keeping family and friends close to her are what keeps her "grounded" in showbiz. "I think it's due to the way I've been brought up, so I've never been carried away or not focused in reality.
"I didn't really feel like I dealt with it [fame], I just didn't pay much attention to it. I just went with the flow and carried on with life. I don't really get two-faced with paparazzi cameras or if people coming up to me asking me for autographs and stuff, it doesn't faze me at all."

Pixie scored a big thumbs-up with K-Pop boppers when she collaborated with Big Bang's G-Dragon and T.O.P on the dance track 'Dancing on My Own'. She first got acquainted with their music when she was promoting her music in Japan and was impressed by their "futuristic" sound and outfits.
Speaking with a British accent peppered with a chirpy lilt, Pixie name-dropped "Girls' Generation" as another Korean band she learnt about in Japan, apart from Big Bang.
"I thought they are really cool. Recently I heard that they recorded a song -- that I wrote -- for themselves and I hope they'll put it on their album," she enthused.
So where does Pixie see herself heading in the next five years?
"I definitely want to have made a few more albums, I definitely want to go more down the soul, Motown route 'cos I love that kind of music and singing that kind of music. Go on more tours, play some more shows, and new tattoos, yea."
